The Morgan's Barn Mazer

Our mazer is the great great great great great grandson of the First Fleet convict Richard Morgan and his third partner, Catherine Clark. Through the Morgan line, our mazer is also connected back to the Watson’s of Rockingham Castle, Rutland.

Currently the meads being specialised at Morgan’s Barn Mead are a cinnamon cyser and an equally pleasant apple and cinnamon melomel. The cyser, in particular, would be identified as a sweet mead. But, to be honest, our mazer says dry meads taste like a dairy goat’s arse so until he finds a pallatable recipe it’s unlikely we can get him to produce any more of the dry. It could happen, but he keeps talking about following his tongue.

You should be told up front that our mazer is an ex-long-serving convict of the modern Tasmanian prison system. And just like his forebear, our mazer is out to redeem himself.

But that’s enough about the mazer. Without the even more amazing work of bees there wouldn’t be mead in our lives. So, to the bees!
